BEL DANORO RETIRES TO VINERY
06/06/07

Gerry Harvey?s Group 3 winning son of Danehill, Bel Danoro will begin his stud career at Vinery Stud this season. The good looking son of the multiple champion sire and sire of champion sires, Danehill and the stakes winning daughter of Bellotto, Bislotto retires to stud after winning two stakes races down the famed Flemington straight.

Bel Danoro showed early his natural speed having won his first two starts which included a win at Flemington over the straight 1200 metre course in a slick 57.5 seconds on a dead track. A stakes horse early in his career Bel Danoro showed his liking to the Flemington straight course when he defeated Group 1 winners El Segundo and Apache Cat when winning the Listed Aurie?s Star Handicap. He showed this win to be no fluke when at his next start he won at the same course and distance taking out the Group 3 VRC Bobbie Lewis Quality at his very next start.

Bel Danoro?s dam Bislotto was also a stakes winner down the Flemington straight and is a daughter of Mr Prospector?s successful Australian based stallion Bellotto. Her dam Biscay Dancer is by Champion sire Biscay and is a sister to stakes winner Nanutarra and a half-sister to Group 1 Caulfield Guineas winner Marwong.

?It is our commitment to offer breeders quality stallions at all levels of the market at the best value and Bel Danoro certainly fits this criteria?, said Vinery?s General Manager, Peter Orton. ?He was a very good racehorse, from a strong Australia family and by Danehill, the most potent stallion of our time. Danehill now stands as the best sire of sires with the likes of Redoute?s Choice, Flying Spur, Commands, Danewin, Danzero, etc. Bel Danoro will be syndicated to breeders and with additional support from Vinery, will receive a great opportunity to be a success at stud?.

Bel Danoro will stand his first season at Vinery for a fee of $5,500 (GST inclusive) which is payable in June of next year.
