Lee Freedman trained sons of Danehill have made a decent fist of life and after racing as Flying Spur and Danzero can attest.
Indeed, Freedman?s Midas Touch with future stallions is unparalleled when you add Encosta de Lago to the mix.
The latest FBI graduate to go to stud is Bel Danoro who will serve at Vinery Stud alongside Markdel?s 2005 VRC Victoria Derby hero , Benicio.
?Bel Danoro was a very good racehorse, from a strong Australian family and by Danehill, the most potent stallion of our time? said Vinery?s General Manager, Peter Orton.
Bel Danoro?s four wins (from 14 starts) are high lighted by successive victories in two of Australia?s major sprints.
The horse was sent a 2/1 favourite in the Aurie?s Star at Flemington against an especially hot field.
Bel Danoro led from start to finish to comfortably hold off the challenge from Group One winners, El Segundo and Apache Cat.
The Freedman galloper backed up in the Bobbie Lewis (Gr 3) as a pronounced favourite and won in similar fashion, beating future Group One winner Perfectly Ready.
Previous winners of the race include Special, Placid Ark and Hareeba.
Bel Danoro finished fourth on four occasions in stakes races, namely the Alister Clark (Gr2), Sir John Monash, Zedative Stakes and the Sandown Six.
Bel Danoro is the best of five winners produced by Bislotto (by Bellotto) a winner of the Listed VRS Red Roses. His next dam is a Biscay full sister to Blue Diamond Prelude winner, Nanutarra, and a half relation to the dual Group One winner Marwong.
Bel Danoro will stand his first season at $5500 (incl GST) with a live foal guarantee.
?It is our commitment to offer breeders quality stallions at all levels of the market at the best value and Bel Danoro certainly fits this criteria?, Orton says.
?Bel Danoro will be syndicated to breeders and with the additional support from Vinery, will receive a great opportunity to be a success at stud?.
